Estoy un Poco Loca por Coco

Estoy un poco loca por la película Coco. Honestly, anyone that sees this movie will be completely  crazy love with the characters, the music and the celebration of the Mexican culture.

I personally related to so many parts of the little details of the movie. When you grow up Hispanic, you learn from a young age to hold great respect for family, the elderly and those who have passed.  Not only did they capture the attitude of the Mexican culture well, but it also had a lot of little touches of the Mexican culture that made the movie feel truly authentic. I hear my mom right now telling my Tía Sarita that she has to see this movie because of how realistic it is. From the chancla to the elote, I saw some of my childhood in the movie, as I am sure many of those around me did.

What especially stood out to me was how important it was honoring those who have passed. Día de los Muertos is one of my favorite holidays. It is a day that we celebrate those who have passed. Just like the movie reiterated, we keep the departed alive by remembering them. I love honoring my Mama Coco by wearing her clothes. She had quite the trendy closet. When she passed, my mother got a few of her clothes. We recently found them tucked away in our closet and decided that a great way to honor her would be if I could wear her clothes. It keeps her memory alive.

A lesson that I learned from this movie was that life and family is precious. Recently, one of my good friends passed away. She was always on a new adventure, going to a party and enjoying life. She didn't let setbacks discourage her from reaching happiness. She loved her family and had a life that most would envy. She always served as an inspiration to me and a reminder that I need to go out and enjoy this temporary life. Even though, she is no longer with us, her memory will continue to inspire me.

Those who have passed will not be forgotten. That is why I love Día de Los Muertos so much. It's a day that is set aside to remember those who have left us. I love celebrating this holiday with my family. I am so happy that the movie Coco was able to capture the specialness of this day and the Mexican culture. If you haven't yet, go to the movie theatre and watch this film. I don't doubt that you will be enamorado with Coco.
